Cleaning up after storm damaged trees fell on deer fencing at Elmore Roots

After the extreme wind event on October 30, 2017, David Fried of Elmore Roots awoke the next morning to find trees down across their orchard and nursery, damage to their high tunnel covering, and deep ruts in their driveway due to heavy rains. Fallen trees had damaged the fencing that protects their young trees and shrubs in the fruit nursery from deer and moose. Repairing the fencing right away was critical since their crops – organic fruit trees and berries – require overwintering at least 4-5 years before they are saleable. An Emergency Loan from the VFF allowed Elmore Roots to replace broken fencing and repair the driveway.
