Laughing Child Farm

Laughing Child Farm is a fast-growing organic farm in Pawlet, Vermont specializing in growing sweet potatoes. With 13 acres in production, they are Vermont’s largest sweet potato producer and their sweet potatoes can be found in grocery stores throughout Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and New York.

Laughing Child Farm is owned and operated by Timothy and Brooke Hughes-Muse and kept sane by their four giggling girls. Timothy manages the field operations and Brooke manages the packinghouse and sales. Laughing Child Farm has been growing sweet potatoes since 2012, and Timothy and Brooke have been growing on commercial farms for 15 years.

They came to the Vermont Farm Fund for a loan to purchase equipment to upgrade their packing house and sweet potato washing equipment. This upgrade will increase yields and profits by reducing costly damage to sweet potatoes during the washing process, resulting in a better looking product with longer storage life. With this investment, they expect to double the acreage of sweet potatoes that they grow.

Our farm has the right climate, the right soils, and has the right community to help us grow the best sweet potatoes.
